Job Description:
You have to be able to think fast, have a good memory, be able to take requests from customers and be fairly reasonable at maths. Sometimes you may need to work very fast under pressure during busy hours. There could be a lot of bending, carrying, lifting, reaching, standing, and stretching......so you need to be fairly fit! Customers want their ordered food quickly and you have to be able to write down their orders and correctly advise Chef. You have to add up the items on the bill (with the help of a cash machine) without making a mistake and provide the right change. My customers expect extra courtesy, good service and attention. We will teach you about the food as clients want you to explain what goes into their meal and how it is cooked. You might also need to recommend what wine they'd like to drink or you might be needed to prepare simple items like salads at the table.  You will also be involved with cleaning and setting up tables, cutlery etc and things like refilling salt and pepper shakers and making sure other condiments are maintained. You should be able to welcome customers, show them to their tables, make them feel comfortable throughout their meal and thank them appropriately when they leave. Most importantly at this restaurant, the customer is king, they are always right. You are their first and last contact with us and as such you are my ambassador. I expect you to ALWAYS be polite, always courteous, always smiling and to manage their expectations appropriately ensuring that they feel a million dollars. Your reward will show in a great bonus structure and of course, if you get it right, it will mean positive feedback from customers in the way they appreciate your service with larger tips and gratuities.
I'll stand by you, but if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen!
